v6 And the Lord helped David wherever he went.
v3-11 God's chosen nation is making His name famous.
v4-5 Strange tactics, but we still use dishonor and shame to cause pain. In war and in relationships.
v13 Amazing pep talk.
v3 Gruesome.
v5-8 The giants are defeated.
v1 Satan is implicated in David's sin (as instigator).
v3 Joab tries to advise against it.
v12 God makes David chose his punishment: 1) Three years of famine 2)Three months of losing battle 3)Three days of the sword of the Lord.
v13 He chooses the 3 days!! Even at his most guilty and undeserving, he honors the Lord's merciful character. Do you think you would have chosen this way? Do you believe the Lord to be merciful when you are truly guilty before Him?
v16 Terrifying!!
v17 David offers himself to save his people. Again we see why God loves this sinful man so much. He understands the concept of self sacrifice as a means of saving others.
v24 A sacrifice to the Lord, or an offering to the Lord should cost the giver something.
v27
