v9-10 Sometimes what we think is best is in direct contradiction to what god requires of us. God will never require us to sin in order to carry out His will. God was more than capable of steadying his own ark. Even though it seems like a small thing, reaching up to steady the ark, Uzza was defying God's direct command not to touch it.
Know what God requires.
Believe that God is in control.
V11-12 Sometimes God's actions are so different than what we expect, we become unstable and wonder if we really know Him at all. But the truth is, He's exactly who He says He is. We should strive to know Him, without putting expectations on Him. We can know His character, but we can never know His mind.
v8 The Philistines have a vendetta against David. He humiliated them with the Goliath inceident. But David takes the offensive, and goes out after them!
v12 David burns the false gods that were left behind by the defeated army.
v15 God is clear with David about the battle plan. "...when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees...God will have gone out before you..."
God loves to fight the battles of His people. We should let Him! He resources are much better than ours. His army can march across the treetops!
v13 David recognizes that they had not acted according to God's instruction. I love David's repentant heart. He does stuff wrong, but he is always willing to strive for God's best.
v16 "to raise sounds of joy," I love this phrase. This is worship.
v27-29 David looked undignified to Michal, and she despised him. We do the same to each other within the Church--judging the way others worship or serve God, when the truth is we have no idea how He is working on someone else's heart at any moment. Assuming that we do brings division to the Body of Christ. Don't do it.
