SAUL
v.2 A choice and handsome man. He stood literally head and shoulders above the rest.
v.15 Isn't it cool that Samuel and God still have this intimate verbal relationship? I long for the day!
v.19-21 Imagine how freaked out Saul must have been. Samuel is already treating him like royalty, and Saul just wants to find his dad's donkeys! We say that God works in mysterious ways, and this is truly an example of that.
v.21 Saul tries to make sure they don't have the wrong guy.
Our lives may not be as obviously ordered as Saul's was on this day, but truly, when you look back on your life, maybe back through the last ten years, can't you see where the Lord was leading you to where you are today? A mundane task like searching for his father's donkeys led Saul to his destiny as a ruler. But what if he hadn't agreed to dinner with Samuel? What is he was so concerned with the task at hand that he made THAT his destiny? I believe that sometimes the Lord calls us out of our current situation to another purpose, but instead of following His lead, we say, "Oh I could never do that; I have a JOB to do."
But what if this new opportunity is the very reason he sent you to that job in the first place? All I'm saying is that we have a journey, and we have a destiny. Don't miss out on your destiny because you have confused the two.
Chapter 10v.2 The donkeys have been found. When God sends you to your destiny, he'll work out the loose ends for you.
V.6 "Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you mightily...and you shall prophesy with them and be changed into another man."
You think you are not good enough to be used by God? Follow His path, and He just may change you into the perfect person for the job. I have seen this in my own life, and I am still blown away by it. That is the power of the Holy Spirit.
v.9 God changed his heart. (Doesn't that just grab at your very soul? It gave me a lump in my throat.)
v.19 This is why people say to be careful what you ask for. Eventually, God may just give you what you want, even if it doesn't fit within His plan for you. If you insist on running your own life, He might just let you.
v. 26 "Whose hearts God had touched." This book is full of beautiful imagery regarding God and His people at this time.
