Chapter 9
Don't you love how God is described in verse 3? "...like a consuming fire." It would be really neat to start some sort of art project using Scriptural descriptions of God. I hope I can remember that!
Verse 4 puts the nation of Israel into perspective. It's not how good they are that is finding favor with God. It's merely that they have God.
The rest of the chapter is proof that His people are not there on their own merit.
Chapter 10
These two chapters go well together. In order to really appreciate God's provision, sometimes we must remember how little we deserve it. That was chapter nine.
And this chapter shows that through His grace, God is keeping His promise to the people. He rewrote the tablets, carried the Israelites through the wilderness, and now He expects them to respond with gratefulness, reverence, and grace to their fellow man.
