I know that I have been slow to update the blog the last few weeks. Part of that is my new-found determination to rest.
The other reason is that I have been getting ready for a big show in Dallas this weekend. The Dallas Flea!
I have been cutting, sanding, painting, and sewing in order to have enough to fill my 10x10 foot booth. I always take a little bit too much to these kinds of events, but I think that's better than not having enough!
We'll be taking most of the items we sell in our etsy shop, along with some brand new designs from our spring collection. I cannot wait! My mood is alternating between excitement, because I LOVE face-to-face sales, and dread, because I'm going to have to seriously scramble the next few days to get everything done that I want to have there.
If you'd like to join us, you can find all you need to know on the graphic below:

Hey friends! We are snuggled up in our warm house, since winter has finally hit North Texas...at least for a few days. The kids have started school again after a luxurious 3 WEEK break, and while they are busy studying for their spelling tests, I'm setting up shop again. You know I love that, right?
The Christmas pop-up was a lot of fun for all of us, and the kids loved being a part of it again. We're so thankful for all of our readers, friends, and family who participated in that one!
This next go-round is going to have a little bit more permanency to it, as I hope to keep it open at least until spring break.
I have also designed an entirely new collection called "Love Shack" (I'm an 80s kid) all about L-O-V-E and the textures and colors that conjure up that feeling for me. Whether you love your momma, your kids, your bff, or your sweetie-pie, I hope I have something that works for you. I'm taking this collection right into the valentine, wedding, and baby shower season.
Here's a sneak peak:
Fun, huh? The kids have a part in making the letter blocks, the hair ties, and the "I LOVE YOUR FACE" signs. Those are the special "kidmade" products, the sale of which will partially be donated to a local children's fund that the kids choose. I'll keep you informed!

It's been a while since I've announced any big news for my vintage fabric shop, ROPE. But this one is going to make up for it.
In order to make room for some really big new things in my other shop, LASSO THE MOON, we have decided to discontinue all of our single fabric pieces. Keeping 100s of fabrics, individually named and listed in the shop is taking up too much time and also too much storage space! I have loved it while it lasted (7 years!) but I'm excited to see what's ahead!
Here's how it will work. Starting today at noon, the single-piece fabrics will be reduced in increments:
January 1-7 25% off
January 8-14 50% off
January 15-22 75% off
At the end of the three weeks, any remaining items will be worked into our multi-packs, which for the foreseeable future, will still be available.
So, if you have a favorite pattern, get over there soon before it's gone! Or if you like the risk, wait a while for the prices to drop! Either way, this is a great chance to do some stocking up.
ps. If you'd like a reminder about the price changes, leave your etsy id in the comments below, and I'll send you a convo when it happens.
Thanks, y'all!! 2015 is looking bright!
Don't forget to share this post with your vintage-fabric-loving friends!

My friends! We have officially entered crazy town around my house and home. This is the season of WAY TOO MUCH, and I kinda love it. I may not be able to hang out here at the blog all that much, but I hope to pop in here and there and let you know what's going on.
First, thank you SO MUCH for all the love and such regarding the #31DAYS of Giving Handmade last month. I had a blast, and I heard that you liked some of the craft ideas, and maybe even want to make some of them for yourself and others? Yes! I love that.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can check out the whole series here:
With that to the side, let me just say that this time of year is INSANE. My oldest, Emma was actually born on Thanksgiving Day, so her birthday, turkey day, and the official kickoff of the shopping season (Black Friday) are always in the same week. This year she turned 10. We didn't have a big party for her with friends and games, but we did send her on a Dallas-wide scavenger hunt called the EM-mazing race. It. was. awesome. Probably one of the most fun things I've done yet as a mom. And it made me feel so much better about her growing up. This preteen thing is going to be FUN! I will be sharing lots of the pictures, and video, from that day very soon. (My instagram friends have already seen a peek at the fun...you can follow me too if you want! @lasso_the_moon)
But today it's all about the pop-up shop. Oh how I wish I could have done another in-person, brick-and-mortar shop this year, but with the crazy timing, our new homeschool endeavor, and the fact that I have two {sort of naughty} toddlers right now, it seemed like scaling it back a bit might be a good idea. But I want so bad to share my stuff with you, too! So I think the solution is this:
For the next two weeks, I am hosting a virtual pop-up store. I have not had my etsy gift shop open in a long time, and I'm excited to get it going again. There are some familiar items that you might have seen last year, but also some fun new things, too! And the most fun of all (I think) is that my kids are joining in on the fun. Emma (10) and Ethan (7) have each made items to sell in the shop. The money they make will be split between present-buying and charitable giving. They have already sold out a couple of times and had to make more. I'm so proud of them!
So, here's what you can do to be part of it.
1) Visit the shop! Fix yourself a cup of coffee or cocoa and turn on some Christmas music. I like pandora's Christmas Rock station. Click over to lassothemoon.etsy.com and see what we have in stock. Use it for inspiration or add some things to your cart--it's your call! I just want you to come by!
2) Share it with a friend. Do you know somebody who might have a good time poking around the corners of our on-line shop? Word of mouth is the most valuable form of advertisement to me. It's so personal and genuine. I'd be so honored if you'd share the shop, this post, or pin the graphic above to pinterest as a shout-out to me and the kids. Spread the love!
3) Instagram is quickly becoming my go-to social media outlet. I really love it. If you are on Instagram (and you totally should be!) follow me! @lasso_the_moon It is so much fun. It's also a great way for me to quickly share information such as coupon codes, giveaways, and new products that are going up in the next two weeks. Not to mention some of the antics of my little ones at home. Oh my goodness, they get into it sometimes! (Those of you who witnessed the latest shenanigan by Eli know what I mean. And to you all, I am sorry!)
Thanks to all of your for the love and support! I hope you are having a great weekend!
XOXO, Anna

If you haven't entered the drawing for a $25 gift card to Pink Blush Maternity, get over there and do it! You don't have to pregnant or nursing to enter--I think we all know someone who could benefit from a cute maternity top or dress! (Drawing is on Monday at noon!)

It has almost been a week since the end of the first Gathered: a vintage marketplace event! I am still floating on a cloud of happiness. So many friends and loved ones came out to see what we were all about, and I think everyone was pleasantly surprised! Even me! Caroline and I kept walking around the shop saying, "Can you believe we made this?!" It was all too wonderful.
We did hear much disappointment in the voices of the locals when we told them that we were only a pop-up shop. Here today, and gone four days later. So, as the weekend wore on, I started thinking about when and where we could pop-up again.
We have decided that since Christmas is just around the corner, December is the right time. So...
Two weekends. Same location. New vendors. New product. Even more fun.
If you missed it the first time, now you have two more weekends to make time for a little shopping on the Lancaster Historic Town Square.
(And if you need any more inspiration, we are right next door to the famous, Lovin' Oven. Where a giant piece of chocolate cake is $3. Say no more.)

Last weekend was the big Gathered: a vintage marketplace Grand Opening.
I realize that I still have some Setting Up Shop posts to go before I have all 31, but don't worry--I am ready to go back and fill them all in. The Marketplace was a big success, and we are checking our calendars to see what would be the best time to do it all over again.
Until then, I have some giveaways to host!
Come back tomorrow for our first one: a $25 giveaway from Blush Maternity!

This is part 9 of our series: 31 DAYS of Setting Up Shop! You can find the entire list of days, in order on our Setting Up Shop Index Page. I'll add each new entry to this list as it is published.

{vintage spool photo displays}
Day 9 of this series almost got away from me, as I have spent most of the day making product, writing consignment agreements, and meeting with vendors. (and cooking, diapering, mothering a sick baby...)
So instead of my planned post about branding with materials, I decided to give you a peek at one of the new products for the shop.
These {photo displays} are made with real vintage spools. I've added a bit of new thread for color, and a coiled wire for holding a photo. The wire is securely attached inside the spool.
These would also be a sweet way to hold a love note...or a place card...or a table number at a vintage-themed wedding...
Notice how the threads blend with the color scheme I planned out in yesterday's post.
I only picked spools with the sweetest vintage labels.
And because I know that some of you live far away and won't be able to make it to the marketplace in November, I've decided to list two sets of four in Lasso the Moon, in a range of sizes and colors.
Don't worry--I'll still have plenty left for my marketplace customers!
Find your vintage spool photo displays here.

As I've been working on some new things for the shops, I've also been thinking a lot about packaging. I love good packaging.
I also love the process, so I took some progress shots of the different steps involved.
These will be added to the shop very soon, but the question is, which shop should they go into? Should they go into ROPE, since they are technically supplies? Or should they go into the vintage section of LASSO THE MOON, since they would make a great gift? I guess I'll let you know.

Have you ever bought something just because the packaging was so good? I know I have.

Last month when I posted the tutorial for these "teacher totes" some of you were like, that's great and all, but what if I don't want to make my own? These, my friends, are just for you!
Just head on over to Lasso the Moon and pick out which design you like. No sewing required.
Or go back to the tutorial and stitch one up for yourself.
Whichever way you get one, get one! These totes are the perfect size for a simple diaper bag, library books, groceries, or even as a reusable gift bag!
Find them here.
