We have found consistency of routine the absolute KEY to a smooth nightly routine with kids. Relaxation and sleep come more easily when the lighting, sounds, smells, order of events...everything is familiar and repeated night after night.
It doesn't have to take forever, either. Our bedtime routine has been under 10 minutes since the kids were tiny. Jammies, brush teeth, snuggle on the couch, then straight to bed with a goodnight kiss. Recently I added doTerra's Calmer blend to the snuggle time with the little kids. They want to be in my "pocket" either under my wing, or tucked into the bend of my knee on the sofa. I roll a little of the oil onto my own wrists and hands and stoke their hair, rub their backs, massage their hands or feet. Whatever feels natural that night. It's great to connect in a peaceful moment after our typically hectic days.
This oil is so relaxing, it sometimes has me dozing in a few minutes!
