I just got back from a get-away with Donnie and the kids. I was thinking before we left town of how much Donnie deserved a little time off. And how much the kids deserved some uninterrupted time with their daddy. That made me wonder how much time we'd spent at home without him this year. I easily counted 5 solid weeks that he'd been out of town, and that's when I stopped counting. I don't need to know the number--I just know we had this vacation coming. And we soaked in every minute of it.
We went down to Galveston because Emma requested somewhere with a beach. We don't usually let the kids dictate our destinations, but this was also a reward for Emma's performance in school last year.
Each day the kindergartners were sent home with a behavior report in the form of a color--green happy face for a good day, yellow face for a day with some issues, and a red frown for a bad day. My little girl went an entire school year with green happy faces every single day. That is no small feat, and we were happy to reward her for it.
More pictures of our fun time coming tomorrow.
