On Wednesday, I hinted that we might have something exciting happening around the house. Last year I bought some pretty metal hanging baskets at Hobby Lobby when they went on sale at the end of the season. They have been a source of much teasing from Donnie, since I have yet to plant them. So until a couple weeks ago, they were moved from place to place waiting to be filled with something pretty. Finally Donnie hung the empty baskets on the front porch, thinking that keeping them within sight would remind me to get the job done.
Turns out someone else needed them for a very different purpose:
Can you see anything yet? Maybe if I get a little closer.
We've never had a family pet--or at least never one that was allowed in the house. (You'll remember Charlotte...) So this is very exciting for all of us.
Four perfect, speckled Cardinal eggs--right outside our front door! Needless to say, this is one hanging basket that will have to wait a little longer to be planted. The momma bird started sitting on the eggs last week, so they should be hatching in a matter of days. We can't wait!
