Our little cabin quilt is really coming along. This has been such a fun project, since there is no real deadline constraint. I'm free to take my time and make design decisions that I might have rushed through otherwise.
Here it is at the sewing machine having its binding put on. I actually took many pictures on how to layer and baste the quilt before quilting, but those photos somehow got lost in the ether. Who knows what happens to them sometimes... Anyway, I machine quilted in a loopy pattern--my currant favorite. I decided to bind with a double-fold strip, which I think will be my durable in the long run.
Wrapping the binding around with a hand-stitch. The method I used is the one I learned from Heather Bailey's blog.
Since this gift is also from Emma. (She helped me pick out several rows of paper foundations.) I enlisted her help with another little detail. Here she is at work:
So serious. We actually spent a few minutes on the floor together, each of us stitching her side of the quilt. Something precious was happening there. I won't try to describe it. But I hope it happens again soon.
