New Mantle

I took a few minutes last week to rearrange the stuff on my living room mantle.  I've had the same old painting setting up there since we moved here, so it was time for a change.

Most everything on here is just stuff I had laying around.  I don't think it's perfect, but I like to change things around a lot, so I can find what works eventually.  The painting on the far left is a work in progress portrait of Emma.  Here's a closer look.

Believe it or not, I did this with the freezer paper method!  The green is looking a little bare, so I'm planning to add a little here and there as a background--probably also with freezer paper.  I have Ethan's all ready to paint, too, but I'll have to wait until I get some more free time.  (When will that be!!??)

Some Old Art

I was looking around the house for something to post about, and realized that I've never shown this little painting I did.  I am frequently inspired by Scripture to make art, but rarely follow through. 

I'm really happy with the style, and I'd love to do more of them.  This one is hanging in my stairwell.

Pushing it

If you have been reading this blog for any amount of time, you know that summer is a beast for me. I have been doing very little crafting around here, but I thought I'd share this little snippet, just so you know I haven't stopped altogether.  This is the instruction list I left for my mother-in-law a couple weeks ago when we went to Chicago (without the kids!).  It's still on the fridge, 'cause I think it's pretty and it makes people laugh.  I didn't intend for it to be funny, though.  This is still pretty close to our daily routine.
