It's March! I am so glad to be through February. It felt like it would never end. And today, we actually saw the sun. Spring is coming. I can feel it.
It seems pretty appropriate that I would try the no-buying challenge again in the same month that I filed all of last year's receipts. There is definitely a trend with where we spend our money, and a big chunk of my spending money goes to arts and crafts supplies. So again this year, I'll take a month off to focus on what I have, what I could do without, and what I could be using more effectively.
A recap of the rules:
No craft stores, no clothing stores. No buying stuff to bulk up the stash, or just because I might need it...If I HAVE to have something to finish a current project I can buy only that item. I can shop at thrift stores, but only spend $10 a week.
I have a secondary goal this month, too. I've been thinking for a while that I should try to offer my designs as applique patterns. They could be put on bags, T-shirts, quilts, collage projects...I'm still thinking of application possibilities. So, I'll blog the progress of this project throughout the month, and hopefully have a couple patterns in the shop by April! I'm also going to continue adding things to the shop, using supplies that I already have. Like these tissue holders. Just because I can't buy anything new doesn't mean that you can't!
