Retrospect

I have a terrible memory.  I can't remember what I did last weekend, let alone how I spent the whole of last year.  So I went through my photos and came up with this little mosaic of some of the projects I completed in 2007. 

I had completely forgotten some of them.

Also, last year I had only one resolution.  That was to be better at correspondence.  I have two small kids, and the closest relative lives over 10 hours away, so this is pretty important.  Yet, the first two years I lived here, I failed miserably.  I am happy to say, that while not perfect and the endeavor, I have improved light-years beyond my previous abilities.  The E Squared fan club  is still my greatest achievement in this  sphere, and I am proud to say that it is still going strong.

-Writing poetry again
-Recycling
-Opening my Etsy Shop

Ok, but enough of this tooting my own horn--time to take a big breath and get to work on next year's list.  Happy Monday, y'all!

Resolutions

Well, it's late, but still January.  So here is the list of small resolutions I have made for myself this year. 
1. Make a bigger deal of birthdays.  I want to do more than a call on the phone.  Already this year, I have passed up that opportunity with two of my brothers, but I hope they will forgive my short-comings, and accept the process of self improvement.   I have some ideas, but it might take the entire year to get the hang of it. 

2. Bring fewer plastic grocery bags into the house.  I started recycling last year, which is a big deal, because we don't have curb-side pickup, and I have to drive to a receptacle.  Following this resolution means that at some point I will have to produce and use canvas bags, but for the time being I'm using a couple paper bags each time I go to the grocery store.  They hold more (fewer bags needed) and I use the kraft paper for all sorts of fun things around the house.  Even packaging for stuff I make. 

3.  Journal More.  Sometimes as a stay-at-home mom I do a lot of training,  "rearing" and disciplining, but there are whole days when I realize that most of my adult thoughts, hopes, and plans have stayed up in my head.  The blogs help, but you can only be so candid with a public blog, and no one wants to read about the hum-drum of everyday life.  I love keeping a journal, and hopefully getting the frustration out will leave more room for creativity to surface!
