Well, I have been productive today. I've trudged through some much-needed post-weekend cleaning, started on a really cool surprise project for the Grandmas (sorry, no hints, ladies!) and I finished up these: I think I'm going to call them "sack socks", at least for now. They are for holding the hundreds of bags that follow us home from the grocery store. I needed three. The pinkish one (Amy Butler fabric) is for the bathroom so we can use them for trash liners. We also use the bags to tie up dirty diapers, because the "Diaper Genie" really weirds me out. (Have you ever emptied one of those things? It's like a stinky diaper sausage. Ew.) So the middle one is for the kids' room. (Stored where they can't reach it, of course.)
And the green stripe is for the kitchen. Made from some left-over curtain fabric. I only used things that I already had, so no violating the March Moxie challenge I gave myself. The handles are grosgrain ribbon, another thing I have way too much of.
These sack socks fit into the philosophy I have that even the most humble household objects deserve to be beautiful in some way. That, and I'm much more likely to use something if it's pretty!
I had so much fun making these, that I used a little more of the raspberry stripe, and made three more. I'm going to add them to my shop.
