I haven't been hiding out. Instead, I have been working on some new designs for Ebay, as well as finishing up some custom outfits for local customers. Here's one of them:
I was asked to make something like this for a friend, so while I was at it, I made a pair for Emma. I. Love. These. And thankfully so does Emma! She actually asked to wear them today. That's unusual since I have to bribe her to stand up straight, smile for the camera, etc. when I am taking pictures for a listing.
The front has a prissy, plump little bunny rabbit sitting in her flower garden. She doesn't know where she put her carrot. The legs are strips of random fabrics, not fused down, and sewn with raw edges expose. I am really digging this look. It's going to show up in more of my designs I think.
Oh, there's her carrot! She must have left it in that pocket for safe-keeping and forgot where she put it. I do the same thing all the time. Don't worry, Bunnygirl.
I like the roundness of the bunny here. So many of my overalls feature "Zuzu", who is so tall and thin. I like this squishy aesthetic she has here. I'd like to interpret her as a big, round softie.
Here's another outfit I finished this week:
I'll be putting it up on Ebay tomorrow afternoon. My design group is doing a launch called "Wish you were here" where we make outfits inspired by vacation spots. Well since I decided not to buy anything new this month, these soft rustic calico prints are just right. Especially since the only place I want to vacation is back home in the Lone Star State. (Hi, family! I miss you!) I used the patchy strip idea in the belt, here, too. Emma doesn't like this one as much. But she forgot that for a few minutes because I let her run free in the yard. (Finally a little break in the cold weather. I'm thinking it's time to plant some sweet peas and poppies!)
I also finished the big secret project I've been working on for the Grandmas (and Grandpas). I can't show it yet, because I just mailing the beginning of it today, but as soon as they get it, I'll post it here. I think it just might be my best idea ever. (It kept me up all night last week...don't you hate "creative brain"!)
I think I'm going to take the weekend off from blogging. Or at least tomorrow. (It's my birthday.) Donnie's in Dallas being a Best Man until tomorrow evening, but my buddy Andrea is going to come over and help with the pampering. (Literally and figuratively!) I haven't decided how I'm going to spend my day, but it's nice to know I have options!
