No time to chat!  I'm too busy making stuff to stock the shop for the holidays.  These felted sweater cars for girls and boys are now in the shop.  Hurry.  They go fast.

let's do lunch

i met a friend for lunch the other day.

there is a new restaurant in town that we've been dying to try.

we looked over the menu.

"what are you having?"

hmm.  everything looks so good.

"I think I'll have the soop."

"with carit juice to drink."

these indie restaurants are so hip with their artsy menus.

the staff was friendly--took our order right away.

and served within minutes.

the portions were huge.

my friend was worried she wouldn't be able to finish.

so she sent it back for something else.

we were afraid we'd caused too much hassle, but they were so nice!

we'll definitely be going back!

Building

My big kids.  Since Esther joined the family, their lives have changed.

A little less attention.

A little more responsibility.

Less supervision.

More fighting.

Fights don't happen all the time--not even every day. 

But our parenting skills are being stretched, and our prayers for wisdom are increasing.

But then there are days like this. 

Donnie was away at camp.  I was trying to catch up on laundry, dishes, diapers...

Emma and Ethan spent the whole day--literally the whole day--in their room building and rebuilding this structure. 

Each time they finished it anew, they called me to take a look.  They were working together, and they were so proud.

Days like this make me think we are on the right track. 

They love each other.  They even like each other.

I hope it lasts a little longer.
